One thought on “Decolonize: A 10th Anniversary Honoring for the Matriarchs of #NoDAPL (teaser)

  1. I traveled from Truckee, California to North Dakota to support the Water is life movement. I went alone with my wolfdog, Luke, and many supplies contributed by my family and community. My dad was raised on the Yankton Sioux reservation and we have warrior in our blood. My grandfather own land at Standing Rock, so this mission was running through my veins. Luke and I camped out near the river for three days and protested on Thanksgiving. Being welcomed into the camps was a definite highlight of my life. “Welcome home“ was the same and I felt so honored to be a part of it. It still gives me chills to see footage from the days the water protectors came together to serve mother earth. Unforgettable. Waking up each morning to a prayer on the river was magical.
I have been a lifelong protector of animals, the Earth, and especially water my entire life, but this experience is one most proud of.
We will continue to fight for as long as we breathe for the safety of all living beings who rely on clean healthy water.
