Nellie Red Owl
Nellie Red Owl (1907-1992) was a Lakota midwife born and raised on Pine Ridge. As an elder, she was a strong voice in support of the liberation of Wounded Knee. She could always be found with her protest sign (pictured right) outside the offices of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the tribal government in support of OSCRO and AIM.
